Dear Bloggie,
Today I was thinking. I was thinking what someone whom is like me, which is full of fear, should do to reduce their fear? While reading the Illustrated version of Life of the Buddha, I realized, why not look it up on the internet! and I did...
I realize that I am not the only one who is afraid...and that there is no such thing as a brave man. Everybody has fears, what makes someone who is "brave" different, is that they realize that fears are unrealistic and to not be affected by them. In truth, we never know how the future is, something may be IMPOSSIBLE for EVERYONE, but for some reason it may work just for u. Was not the task of pulling the sword out of the stone impossible for everyone except King Arthur??? Our karma is such that we are meant for certain things, certain things are out destiny...so never be afraid to take on a challenge which everyone says is impossible!
This verse I found from that website (http://viewonbuddhism.org/fear.html)
From the Dhammapada 212-216 (a collection of sayings of the Buddha):
"From what is dear, grief is born,
from what is dear, fear is born.
For someone freed from what is dear
there is no grief
-- so why fear?
From what is loved, grief is born,
from what is loved, fear is born.
For someone freed from what is loved,
there is no grief
-- so why fear?
From delight, grief is born,
from delight, fear is born.
For someone freed from delight
there is no grief
-- so why fear?
From sensuality, grief is born,
from sensuality, fear is born.
For someone freed from sensuality
there is no grief
-- so why fear?
From craving, grief is born,
from craving, fear is born.
For someone freed from craving
there is no grief
-- so why fear?"
Finally, I also realized something...to reduce fear and tension...I should relax when I work. Previously, I was so afraid of making a mistake tht I was always on my toes, afraid anytime my head would be chopped off! But honestly, will I die just because someone scold me? No!!! So maybe a suggestion would be to make peace with the fact that I will make mistakes and I will get scolded...to make peace that my mistakes may hurt someone, because everyone makes mistakes...it is impossible that we work our whole lives and never get scolded before!!
As for my motivation to stay at this next job...I would like to remember that, I am working only to findout more about what I would like to do in the future. Even if it is suffering, I need to stay at least 2 years to learn what I can. Everyday, the work I do may not be something I like, but this money can be used to make donations and help those ppl who need it more than me...I am now a graduate...and with my CV I can get certain types of jobs...I am now bestowed a certain power to earn money, and having such power, I must put it to good use, earn money and share it with those who are not fortunate enough to earn them!!
