be in harmony with the environment...
that is one of the many lessons in which my father taught me yesterday night. from observing me, he sees that my mindfulness practice is too aloof and is unable to be of practical use in real life. thus, he told me to not seek to be aloof, but to be in harmony with the environment. this aloofness can cause a judgmental attitude to be formed...so i have to be aware.
these few days, i am also reminded of some important teachings of the dhamma, to be DOCILE...to be RESPECTFUL...to be HUMBLE...to be COMPASSIONATE...to have EQUANIMITY..so..yes...be docile...be like a humble doormat...
(1) when ppl ask us to do this n that for us, they r giving us a chance to do Dana..we should humbly and gratefully render our services to them n not think that they seek to use us...
(2) when ppl scold us, they r giving us a chance to do metta and uppekha...they allow us to be patient n allow us to be accepting of both good n bad conditions in life...also they r expressing the fact tht they DO take notice of what we r doing in life n r steering us in a direction in which they feel is good for us
(3) when we lose something, it is giving us the chance to learn to be equanimous. we learn that no matter how hard we work at something, we can lose it any time. at the same time, it gives us a break from all the suffering of owning the thing. it gives us a lightness and freedom. to add abit of my opinion, it gives us a chance to "purify" those things. when we own something, it tends to get "dirty" through our defilement or other impure elements, losing the thing will give a chance to start over new and fresh and we can try to make it pure this time. we also can try harder as we dont have to worry that we will lose anything this time.
to conclude, this lyrics from a song is very meaningful,
"okay its alright with me, somethings are just meant to be, it never comes easily, and when it comes im already gone."
